  • My SAS V Idea Book

    So, with all the talk of SAS 4 finally ending, and SAS V potentially beginning its very early development, I've decided to write down what I would like to see in a new SAS: Zombie Assault. I know some are quite out there, but in the end I'd like to see a mix of the best components of SAS 3, SAS 4, and even Last Line of Defense! Go ahead and leave comments, I want to see what y'all think! This idea book is looking more like an SAS 4 Expansion rather than SAS V, but what say you?

    Okay, but let's get one thing straight before we go any further: The next game shall be called SAS V, and not 5! Come on, Ninja Kiwi, use the Roman Numeral this time!!

    (Classic Mode) For higher leveled players, are the weapons going to scale up as the zombies get stronger and stronger?

      You know, I'd say that the weapons dropped would be stronger the higher level you are. You can spend excess money on upgrading your weapons.

        I think it's a great idea. I'm not sure with the 75 level limit. I personally chose Hellgate mod only for lv 100.

        There are hundreds of ways to improve SAS. I have several dozen different improvements in my notes.

        Btw, your post should be in the SAS4 section.

          If it was lvl 100 requirement, it wouldn't give as much satisfaction from leveling up unless the cap is raised from 100. Also, I posted this here because it's not SAS 4.. at least, not directly.

              I have a few ideas that may be fun

              1. Create your own character

              This will be a fun thing to unlock probably after you have a level 100 character of each class. What I mean by this is in the game there are two sets of skills your basic skills that all classes get and your class skills. For this idea you create a character that gets all of the base skills that all classes get but you get to pick individual class skills from each class. So you can make a class that has medkit from the medic heavy gear from the heavy, adrenaline from the assault and so on, you cannot pick more skills than the classes normally get for class skills (I think it is 6 or 7). You also cannot change these skills once the character is created you will have to delete it (as only having 1 character like this would probably be best) and start all over again.

              I know this would make a very powerful class so when in the game you are able to unlock this ability is up for debate but it should be much later in the game. Also I can guess most people would find this idea bad because even though you have all the best class skills you cannot put enough skill points into them all to really make this worth wile. Well for that I have this second idea

              2. Unlimited skill points and hp

              In SAS4 you get 1 skill point and 100 hp per level and the cap on that is 100 though you can get 8 extra skill points from upgrade mastery and 300 extra hp per skill point into the toughness skill. what I propose here is some method of gaining more skill points and/or hp form another source and I have 2 suggestion for this

              1) When a character reaches level 100 during each mission they still gain experience even though it does not go to the character. What if this experience was gathered in your elite inventory, like money, and with enough of it you can trade it in for an extra skill point or 100 hp or both. You will not level up but you can use the experience you still gain to get more skill points and hp. Obviously this will have to be a very high number of xp to trade in but that is still to be determined. This method allows games like zombie hot spot and modes outside of nightmare to remain relevant to level 100 characters.

              2) Your idea for hell cores would make an interesting method for gaining an extra skill point or hp. Along with being able to do what you want them to do what if hell cores could be used on the character also. Because of how rare they are meant to be giving the option to use them on weapon, armor or character would make an interesting choice for the character. Again to be determined whether this method should give 1 skill point and 100 hp together or make them two different choices.

                I really do want a good incentive for a super hard mode that isn't just a basic "level up", maybe even go as far as unlock special guns once you reach those levels.

                  I have a great idea. Currently, NK has two incompatible versions of the game. One version is stuck on a platform that is going to be obsoleted within a couple years, and NK just found out (saw this on a blog entry) that they can't update it to the successor to Flash. The other version is a halfhearted port of the former. NK is not able or willing to get the latter version (the mobile/Steam version) up to the standard of the Flash version. The two versions can't share player bases - they couldn't, even if the Steam/mobile version were up to the same standard as the Flash one. NK clearly doesn't have the resources to develop and support both versions simultaneously.

                  My idea is: don't repeat this mistake.

                  I know, this seems like a no brainer. But I want to make sure the message gets home.

                  I mean, you guys (talking to NK here) can decide how you want to pull this off. I would lean towards sticking with just mobile and Steam for PC/Mac, since you don't have to worry about Flash compatibility (or whatever the successor to Flash is). But really, if you just do a web version, or you decide you can do both and you actually pull it off, I don't care. The current situation is not acceptable. You made a major strategic error by splitting resources over two platforms. Whatever ideas you have for SAS 5, they will be futile if you repeat that blunder.

                              Mobile and Steam, is all I can think of. Flash is dead, by the time SAS V would be completed Adobe Flash would be officially discontinued!
