  • Discussion of Wizard Tower

So, pressing question to this thread is why N00bs use Wizard despite it being pretty unviable on rounds >13

Discuss why you think newbies and some veterans use Wizard mnokey even though it has big weaknesses.

One of its big strengths is R12 Spaced Camo Leads. I mean, 2 wins or 10 losses is fair game for that. Plus, they don't know much defensive options. And its main upgrade, 2-x, can solo by itself on some early rounds. It has been buffed over time, but not for the lower tiers a lot.
This was like the first time I played BTD 5, which you can find on my profile.

My guess on what it can have is this

    Price: 550
    1-x: 200
    x-1: 250
    2-x: 1250
    x-2: 300
    3-x: 2200
    x-3: 3000
    4-x: 8250
    x-4: 5000

    Tower Buffs
Phoenix does 1 damage to MOAB Class Bloons
Increased Fireball Projectile Speed by 25%
Lightning strikes less bloons (Like 3 less)
Monkey Sense increase (Make it before Apprentice Buffs)
Tornado has a chance (10%) to remove Regrow.
Tempest Tornado has a chance (25%) to remove Regrow.
Summon Phoenix causes Burny Stuff on hit, lasting 2 seconds, popping 1 layer.
This is Street Fighter V again.

Lol. If you think it’s useless then you’re probably completely ignorant about wizard and its mechanics.

Wizard is actually a really reliable tower, just very few people know how to use it properly.

All towers have their weaknesses. Sure, it doesn't hold up that well late game, but you should really only be using wizard on shorter maps anyway. Wizard excels at ceramics and moabs with fire breath upgrade, and is pretty solid against group rushes. A common mistake people make is buying fire breath to defend a rrrod when instead you should be spaming 2/0s instead. A boosted 3\0 can stall a rrrod long enough for you to counter as well. 3\0s are also good for bfb cleanup, and 0/4s are pretty solid against the bfbs themselves. Also, wizard is a support tower, its not meant to be used as your main popping power source.

Problem is, no one really likes towers that are bad late game

like I said, wizard is not for late game maps. Wizard is great for greeding early on. You can't expect to go late game every game, that'll get you into trouble.

Wizard actually is pretty good lategame though. Phoenix has 46 DPS and 5 pierce. Fire wizard has 14.2 dps (about 80% of super monkey).
